Dense Fog Disrupts Rail Services: Over 65 Trains Running Late in North India
Fog Delays Over 65 Trains in North India – Full List

Dense fog and severe cold weather conditions have severely disrupted train operations across North India on Friday, December 26, 2025. Over 65 trains are reported to be running significantly behind schedule, causing major inconvenience to thousands of passengers. Authorities have advised commuters to verify the running status of their trains on the official National Train Enquiry System (NTES) before embarking on their journeys.

Major Delays Hit Key Routes into Delhi

The disruption is most pronounced for trains heading towards the national capital region. Visibility has dropped drastically due to the fog, forcing trains to reduce speed for safety. Some of the most severely affected services include long-distance trains originating from various parts of the country.

According to the latest data, the 14217 MEX (PYGS–CDG) is delayed by a staggering 571 minutes, while the 12555 SUF (GKP–NDLS) is running 496 minutes late. Other key trains facing extensive delays are the 12565 SUF (508 min), 12417 SUF (399 min), and 12381 SUF (461 min). The 14227 SUF (REWA–ANVT) is behind schedule by nearly 10 hours (589 minutes).

Checkpoint-Wise Delays Across Stations

Delays are being recorded at major taking-over points across the Northern Railway network. At Ghaziabad (GZB), trains like the 22541 GBR and 13257 MEX are delayed by over 230 and 420 minutes respectively.

At Palwal (PWL), the 12171 SUF (LTT–HW) is running 570 minutes late. Interestingly, the 20945 SUF (EKNR–NZM) is reported to be running 5 minutes early. At Rewari (RE) and Ambala (UMB), several trains are experiencing delays ranging from a few minutes to several hours, impacting connectivity on these crucial sections.

Passenger Advisory and Official Guidance

In light of the widespread disruptions, Indian Railways has reiterated its advisory for all passengers. Travelers must check the live running status of their trains via the NTES website or app before leaving home. The prevailing weather conditions are unpredictable, and delays may increase.

The situation underscores the annual challenge faced by the rail network during the winter months in North India. While safety protocols necessitate speed restrictions in fog, the cascading effect leads to significant schedule deviations across the network. Passengers are often left waiting at stations for extended periods.

This incident follows recent announcements from the Railways regarding fare revisions and infrastructure projects. However, the immediate focus remains on managing the current crisis and disseminating accurate information to the public to minimize inconvenience.
