The Gujarat state government announced on Thursday that industries in Vadodara and neighboring districts of Central Gujarat imported raw materials valued at Rs 42,830 crore and exported goods worth Rs 56,084 crore in 2025 under the Union government's advance authorization scheme.
Understanding the Advance Authorization Scheme
Under this scheme, when raw materials are imported from overseas, processed domestically, enhanced through value addition, and then re-exported, no duty is levied on the import of such raw materials. This duty exemption encourages local manufacturing and boosts exports.
Emerging Export Hub
Citing data released by the Director General of Foreign Trade, the state government stated that Vadodara and adjoining districts are emerging as a strong export hub. The advance authorization scheme has played a significant role in this growth, facilitating increased trade volumes.
The statement added that the benefits of the scheme will be discussed in detail during the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference for Vadodara. Between 2022-23 and 2024-25, exporters from Central Gujarat obtained 3,242 new advance authorizations, indicating rising participation.
Key Industries and Strategic Location
Vadodara and districts of Central Gujarat host industries in sectors such as chemicals, petrochemicals, engineering goods, pharmaceuticals, and plastics. Vadodara is strategically located along Gujarat's industrial corridor and enjoys direct and easy connectivity to major international ports, including Hazira and Mundra, the government added.
The robust infrastructure and policy support are driving the region's transformation into a manufacturing and export powerhouse.
