This figure represents a substantial rise from the 12.79 million passengers recorded in 2024, marking an addition of nearly 1.2 million travelers over the previous calendar year.
Factors Driving the Growth in Passenger Numbers
Airport officials and industry experts have identified several key factors contributing to this impressive growth. Steady economic activity and a resurgence in both business and leisure travel have played pivotal roles. Additionally, major concerts and sporting events hosted in Ahmedabad throughout the year have attracted visitors from across the country and abroad.
An airport source highlighted that capacity enhancement and network expansion were crucial elements. Air India Express commenced operations from Ahmedabad during 2025, and most airlines increased frequencies and added new sectors. Other domestic and international carriers also expanded their presence, which significantly improved seat availability and connectivity to key metropolitan areas and regional destinations.
Enhanced Surface Connectivity Boosts Accessibility
The source further emphasized the role of improved surface connectivity. The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) introduced direct bus services from cities such as Rajkot and Vadodara to the airport. This initiative has made it easier for passengers from central and Saurashtra regions of Gujarat to access the airport, thereby contributing to the overall increase in footfall.

Virendra Shah, who operates a travel company in Ahmedabad, commented on the trend, stating, "We witnessed a strong tourism-led rebound. Leisure travel grew, and so did NRI arrivals during the year."
