Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday called upon the young generation to merge their indigenous skills with modern technology and aim to become employers rather than employees. He emphasized the state government's unwavering commitment to fostering youth entrepreneurship through various supportive schemes.
Blending Tradition with Technology for Self-Reliance
Addressing a gathering at the inauguration of the state-level 'Swadeshi Mahotsav - 2025' in Panchkula, the CM redefined the concept of 'swadeshi' for the contemporary era. He stated that in today's startup age, self-reliance is not confined to traditional goods but is actively being promoted in advanced sectors like technology, software, defence equipment, and semiconductors.
Saini stressed that youth-driven development of indigenous technology would not only spur new business ventures but also play a crucial role in establishing India as a global leader. He urged the youth to integrate their local artisanal knowledge with cutting-edge tech to build innovative enterprises.
Government's Multi-Pronged Support for Entrepreneurs
The Chief Minister detailed the extensive support system established by his administration. He highlighted key central and state initiatives such as the Mudra Scheme, Stand-Up India, and special subsidies for the MSME sector that are being leveraged to empower aspiring business owners.
Revealing significant figures, Saini informed that Haryana is now home to over 12 lakh registered MSMEs, which collectively provide livelihoods to around 65,000 individuals. To further boost local manufacturing to global standards, the state has launched the "Padma" scheme. This initiative aims to identify and promote unique products from each block, with the goal of establishing Ambala's scientific instruments, Panipat's handlooms, and Rewari's brass craft as part of a globally recognized "Brand India".
Haryana's Rising Startup Ecosystem and Financial Backing
Saini pointed to the Haryana State Startup Policy - 2022 as a cornerstone of the government's strategy to cultivate a youth workforce capable of generating employment. The results are evident, as Haryana currently holds the seventh position nationwide in terms of the number of startups, with more than 9,500 recognized startups currently operational in the state.
To ensure financial constraints do not hinder innovation, the CM announced that a substantial Rs 2,000-crore 'Fund of Funds' is being set up to provide crucial capital support to startups, enabling young entrepreneurs to pursue their groundbreaking ideas.
Beyond startups and MSMEs, Saini also highlighted the empowerment of over 65,000 self-help groups in Haryana, involving millions of women members. Concluding his address, he made a fervent appeal to citizens to actively promote and use swadeshi products. He also urged them to embrace the pledge for a plastic-free India and a garbage-free Haryana, linking environmental consciousness with economic self-reliance.
