State officials confirmed the allocation of more land in New Town. This move aims to develop new residential housing projects across the area.

Details of the E-Auction

The West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation will conduct an e-auction for ten large plots. These plots measure approximately 4.7 acres in total. They are being offered on a freehold basis specifically for residential use.

Each plot measures between 1,500 square meters and 2,000 square meters. All plots are situated in Action Area II of New Town. The e-auction is scheduled to occur next month.

Eligibility and Participation

Authorities are inviting offers from eligible entities. These include corporate bodies registered under the Companies Act. Registered trusts or societies can also participate in the auction process.

New Town's Growing Population

Officials provided insights into New Town's demographic plans. The township has a planned population of 10 lakh residents. An additional floating population of five lakh is also proposed for the area.

Current and Future Housing Units

Construction progress in New Town is notable. Around 12,000 dwelling units have already been completed. A further 16,000 dwelling units are currently under construction.

An official stated the town expects to have approximately 2 lakh dwelling units eventually. These units will cater to the housing requirements of the planned population over time.

This expansion reflects the state government's commitment to addressing housing needs. The e-auction represents a key opportunity for developers to contribute to New Town's growth.
