Prominent Ranchi Realtor Dies in Apparent Suicide from Sixth-Floor Balcony
In a tragic incident that has shocked the local community, a prominent city-based realtor allegedly died by suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of his apartment building in Ranchi on Thursday night. Police confirmed the details on Friday, revealing that the deceased has been identified as Anurag Sarawgi, a 50-year-old businessman who had been actively involved in the real estate sector for the past 22 years.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred at the Belair apartment complex located in the Main Road area under the jurisdiction of the Hindpiri police station. According to police reports, Sarawgi allegedly jumped off the balcony of his flat on the sixth floor. At the time of the incident, he was alone in his residence. His parents reside in a flat on the fifth floor of the same building, while his wife and two children were in Chennai with his mother-in-law, who is undergoing medical treatment there.
The apartment guard first noticed Sarawgi falling to the ground at approximately 10 PM and immediately alerted the police. Kotwali DSP Prakash Soy provided further insights, stating, "When police went up to his flat on the sixth floor, the doors were locked from inside, and police had to enter through the windows. We found his palm and footprints on the bar in the balcony. Prima facie, the situation indicates it as a suicide, but we are not ruling out any other aspect."
Police Investigation and Post-Mortem
Authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sarawgi's death. As of now, the exact reason behind this extreme step remains unascertained. Police have confirmed that no suicide note was discovered within the flat, adding a layer of mystery to the case.
