The fate of Pune's proposed mega-infrastructure project, the Yerawada–Katraj twin tunnels, now hinges on a critical feasibility study. The ambitious ₹7,500-crore plan, designed to create a major north–south connectivity corridor, was a key topic at a recent Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Project Status and Official Statements
Deepak Singla, the Additional Commissioner of PMRDA, confirmed on Tuesday that the crucial feasibility assessment for the twin tunnel project is currently in progress. He stated that once this study is complete, its findings will be presented before the Pune Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (PUMTA) to seek final clearance. The tunnel proposal was among roughly 220 infrastructure projects reviewed during the PMRDA meeting held last week in Nagpur.
