Nagpur Metro Phase 3 DPR Tender Enters Critical Evaluation Phase
The tendering process for preparing the detailed project report (DPR) for Nagpur Metro's ambitious Phase 3 expansion has officially entered the evaluation stage, with two firms participating in the competitive bidding process, according to official confirmation from MahaMetro authorities.
Technical Evaluation Underway for Key Metro Expansion
With the tender submission window now closed, MahaMetro has commenced the crucial technical evaluation of the submitted bids. This comprehensive assessment represents a pivotal step that will determine both the eligibility and technical capability of the participating firms to undertake this significant infrastructure planning project.
"Once the thorough technical scrutiny is successfully completed, the financial bids will be opened for examination, following which the contract will be formally awarded to the selected consulting agency," explained a senior MahaMetro official familiar with the procurement process.
Blueprint for Nagpur's Largest Metro Expansion
The detailed project report assumes paramount importance as it will establish the comprehensive blueprint for Phase 3, which is proposed to represent the most substantial expansion of Nagpur Metro to date. This ambitious phase will encompass multiple new corridors, including the comprehensive Inner Ring Road route, the strategic Sitabuldi-Koradi connection, the industrial Butibori extension, and the innovative New Nagpur link corridor.
Officials have indicated that once the consultant is officially appointed through this rigorous selection process, on-ground DPR preparation work is anticipated to commence in May. This extensive exercise will incorporate multiple critical components including comprehensive traffic and ridership surveys, detailed origin-destination studies, thorough topographical assessments, and meticulous alignment planning.
Comprehensive Planning for Future Infrastructure
These foundational studies will collectively form the essential basis for finalizing the project's complete scope, technical specifications, and structural framework. The DPR will also determine numerous critical aspects of the metro expansion including station locations, elevated and underground section allocations, interchange facilities, and seamless integration mechanisms with existing operational corridors.
Once meticulously finalized through this consultative process, the comprehensive detailed project report will be formally submitted to the state government authorities for preliminary review. Subsequently, the document will be presented to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for the necessary statutory approvals and funding clearances required to advance this transformative urban infrastructure project.
