Ludhiana Atal Apartment Scheme Draw on April 14

Ludhiana Atal Apartment Scheme Draw Scheduled for April 14 Following Strong Public Interest

The Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) has announced a tentative date of April 14 for conducting the draw of lots for the remaining 179 flats under the Atal Apartment Scheme, following an enthusiastic response from city residents. Officials have uploaded the final list of applicants on the LIT website for public information, while also requesting pending documents from some applicants to ensure a smooth process.

Overwhelming Applications Received for Affordable Housing

In a significant development, the LIT received approximately 1,539 applications for the available flats, which include 43 for the High Income Group (HIG) and 136 for the Middle Income Group (MIG). This breakdown comprises 973 applications for MIG flats and 566 for HIG flats, reflecting a robust demand for affordable housing in Ludhiana. Applicants are now optimistic about timely project completion and possession, as construction progresses visibly at the Karnail Singh Nagar site.

Chairman Highlights Public Confidence and Affordability

Tarsem Bhinder, Chairman of LIT, emphasized the positive public response, attributing it to the visible construction progress that has alleviated earlier doubts about the scheme's success. He stated, "Our flats remain affordable compared to other options on Pakhowal Road, where rates are considerably higher." Bhinder added that while efforts are underway to meet the November deadline for possession, potential delays may occur due to labor shortages and disruptions from the upcoming rainy season, which could affect the final touch-up work.

Project Timeline and Historical Context

Notably, the Atal Apartment Scheme project was initiated in December 2024 after draws for 576 flats were organized. Although the official deadline is estimated for October 2026, officials have committed to striving for possession by November-December, aiming to have all aspects ready by then. This project stands as the sole ongoing initiative by LIT in the city, prompting officials to prioritize its swift completion. In the past, allottees expressed concerns over delays, but were reassured by officials who promised accelerated work and early possession once pace improved.

The LIT's proactive approach in addressing public queries and maintaining transparency through online updates underscores its commitment to delivering affordable housing solutions in Ludhiana, fostering hope among applicants for a successful outcome.
