YEIDA to Acquire 740 Acres in Jan for Rs 1,200 Crore Ganga-Yamuna Expressway Link
Land Acquisition for Ganga-Yamuna Expressway Link Starts Jan

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is gearing up to kickstart a major land acquisition drive next month. The authority will purchase approximately 740 acres of land across 16 villages to pave the way for a crucial new expressway link.

Project Overview and Key Details

This ambitious project involves the construction of a 74.3-kilometre link expressway that will seamlessly connect the Ganga Expressway with the Yamuna Expressway. The primary objective is to establish a direct and high-speed road corridor to the upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, significantly enhancing regional connectivity.

YEIDA has pegged the estimated cost for acquiring the necessary land at a substantial Rs 1,200 crore. Once the acquisition process is successfully completed, the authority will transfer the land parcels to the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), which will be responsible for the actual construction of the expressway. The overall project cost is estimated to be around Rs 4,000 crore.

Land Acquisition Scope and Survey Status

The land acquisition is a significant undertaking that will ultimately involve a total of 56 villages spread across two districts. In the initial phase starting in January, YEIDA will focus on 16 villages under its own jurisdiction. The broader acquisition plan includes eight villages in Gautam Budh Nagar and a substantial 48 villages in Bulandshahr district.

Within Bulandshahr, the villages are located across multiple tehsils: 14 in Khurja, with the remainder distributed in Bulandshahr, Syana, and Shikarpur. Officials have confirmed that the crucial survey of all land parcels has been finished, and all preparations for commencing the acquisition process are now in place.

Expressway Alignment and Local Infrastructure

Out of the total 74.3 km length, approximately 20 kilometres of the new link expressway will fall within YEIDA's development area. This section will feature a nearly nine-kilometre elevated stretch. To ensure local communities are not isolated, a 24-metre-wide service road will be constructed along the expressway within Yamuna City. This road is specifically designed to support movement for nearby villages and sectors.

The expressway's path through Yamuna City will traverse through several key sectors, including Sectors 4A, 5A, 6 to 11, 16, 21, 33, and 34. The project also includes plans for two road overbridges and multiple underpasses along the corridor; the designs for these structures are currently being finalised by the authorities.

Official Statement on Route and Impact

YEIDA CEO, RK Singh, provided specific details about the expressway's route. He stated that the alignment will originate at the 44.3-km point on the Ganga Expressway, near Syana in Bulandshahr. It will then merge with the Yamuna Expressway at the 24.8-km point, which is close to the Film City area in YEIDA's Sector 21.

This strategic link is poised to be a game-changer for the region's infrastructure. By creating a high-speed connection between two major expressways and directly linking them to Noida International Airport, it will drastically improve logistics, reduce travel time, and stimulate economic growth in the National Capital Region (NCR) and western Uttar Pradesh.
