ITC to Build Hotel at Yashobhoomi, Delhi's Largest Exhibition Centre

Delhi's landmark Yashobhoomi convention and exhibition centre is set to get a major hospitality upgrade. The management of the India International Convention and Exhibition Centre (IICC) at Yashobhoomi has formally allotted land to ITC Hotel Ltd (ITCHL) for developing a premium five-star hotel on a long-term lease basis.

A Strategic Boost for the MICE Industry

This move is seen as a significant step in enhancing the infrastructure at India's largest convention and exhibition centre. Anil Chadha, Managing Director of ITCHL, emphasized the project's importance, stating that Yashobhoomi is a game-changer for the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector. He noted that the venue has already successfully hosted numerous large-scale trade shows and conventions, and ITC is committed to creating a world-class hospitality offering that showcases Indian culinary and service excellence to international visitors.

ITC's Vision for the Yashobhoomi Hotel

The allotted land will be used to develop and operate a premium 5-star hotel, complete with modern banqueting facilities and multiple restaurants. In an official statement, the company highlighted that the new property will introduce ITC Hotels' popular cuisine concepts, aiming to create a compelling epicurean destination. The vision is to seamlessly blend top-tier hospitality with unforgettable dining experiences.

The hotel is expected to play a pivotal role in elevating Yashobhoomi's status as a premier international destination for conventions, conferences, exhibitions, and high-profile events. It will provide the necessary premium accommodation and event support space right at the venue, a critical need for large-scale international gatherings.

Expanding ITC's Footprint in the National Capital Region

This new project will further strengthen ITC's already substantial presence in Delhi-NCR. The hospitality giant currently operates 10 properties with a total of 1,599 rooms (keys) in the region across its various brands, which include ITC Hotels, Welcomhotel, and Fortune. On a national scale, the ITC Hotels group boasts an impressive portfolio of over 150 hotels with more than 14,000 keys spread across approximately 100 locations in India.

The addition of a flagship property at Yashobhoomi aligns with the government's and the industry's push to position India as a global hub for business tourism and large-scale events. The integrated facility of a world-class convention centre with a premium, on-site hotel is anticipated to attract a higher volume of international business traffic to the capital.
