In a significant development for urban planning in Himachal Pradesh, a total of 3,428 bighas of land has been officially allocated for housing purposes in the proposed Him Chandigarh City, located at Baddi in Solan district. This allocation marks a crucial step forward for the ambitious project, which aims to create a modern urban center in the region.
Additional Land Identified from Common Pool
Beyond the initial allocation, authorities have identified an additional 5,000 to 6,000 bighas of land from the common pool for the Him Chandigarh City initiative. This substantial land reserve is expected to support various aspects of the project, including infrastructure, commercial zones, and public amenities, ensuring a comprehensive development approach.
Cabinet Sub-Committee Reviews Progress
The details of this land allocation were shared during a cabinet sub-committee meeting held on Thursday. The meeting was chaired by Himachal Pradesh's revenue minister, Jagat Singh Negi, who oversaw a thorough review of the progress in developing Him Chandigarh City. Housing and town and country planning minister Rajesh Dharmani also participated in the discussions, highlighting the cross-departmental coordination involved.
Solan deputy commissioner Manmohan Sharma provided a detailed briefing to the committee on land availability and revenue records. All relevant documents were meticulously reviewed by the revenue minister, ensuring transparency and accuracy in the planning process.
Drone Survey and Land Consolidation Plans
As part of the next steps, the Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (Himuda) is set to conduct a drone survey to digitally map the allocated land parcels. This advanced technological approach will facilitate precise planning and efficient land management for the project.
Furthermore, Himuda, in coordination with the revenue department and concerned tehsildars, will undertake a land consolidation process. This initiative aims to merge scattered land holdings into a single, consolidated parcel, streamlining development efforts. The consolidation process is anticipated to be completed within one month, paving the way for a seamless execution of the Him Chandigarh City project.
The allocation of land and the planned technological interventions underscore the state government's commitment to fostering sustainable urban growth in Himachal Pradesh. With these measures, Him Chandigarh City is poised to become a model for future urban developments in the region.
