Gurgaon's New 30-Metre Road Link to Boost Dwarka Expressway Connectivity

In a significant move to enhance urban infrastructure, the Town and Country Planning Department (DTCP) in Gurgaon has proposed a major revision to the sectoral plan for Sector 36A. The plan includes the development of a 30-metre-wide road link that will directly connect to the Dwarka Expressway corridor, aiming to improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion in the rapidly developing region.

Enhancing Connectivity Between Key Areas

The proposed road is designed to provide a direct link between Sector 36A and the Central Peripheral Road (CPR), which is an integral part of the broader road network associated with the Dwarka Expressway. This corridor is expected to significantly enhance movement between industrial zones and upcoming residential sectors in the Gurgaon-Manesar belt. Urban planning officials have emphasized that the new road "is expected to significantly improve internal connectivity in Sector 36A and nearby areas", addressing the growing needs of the area's real estate and commercial development.

Background and Revision Process

The sectoral plan for sectors 36, 36A, 36B, and 37B was originally prepared and approved in December 2012 as part of the Gurgaon-Manesar Urban Complex-2031 plan. However, due to the acquisition of land by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) and the proposal to develop this new internal road, officials stated that a revision to the existing plan became necessary. The DTCP has initiated a statutory process to amend the approved layout, incorporating the alignment of the proposed road into the sectoral plan, with the state government already granting in-principle approval for this modification.

Public Consultation and Feedback

On March 9, a public notice was issued inviting objections and suggestions from residents and stakeholders within a 30-day period regarding the proposed amendment. Officials have clarified that submissions received after this stipulated period will not be considered during the review process. The notice specified that objections and suggestions must be submitted in writing to the senior town planner (Gurgaon) at the office located in Sector 14 HUDA Complex. To facilitate transparency, DTCP has uploaded both the existing approved sectoral plan and the revised draft plan on its official website, advising residents, landowners, and other stakeholders to review the documents and provide feedback.

Impact on Urban Development

The area around Sector 36A has witnessed rapid real estate development in recent years, largely due to its proximity to key infrastructure projects like the Dwarka Expressway. The proposed road link is expected to support further urban expansion and facilitate smoother traffic movement in the region. After reviewing the objections and suggestions from the public, DTCP will finalize the revised sectoral plan and notify it formally as part of the planning framework for the Gurgaon-Manesar Urban Complex, paving the way for improved infrastructure and connectivity.
