Glada Launches Major Crackdown on Illegal Construction in Ludhiana Colony

The Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (Glada) has initiated a significant enforcement drive targeting unauthorized construction activities in the Shaheed Sukhdev Singh Nagar colony. Authorities have served formal notices to 43 property owners for violating approved building plans and regulations.

Residential Zones Transformed into Commercial Hubs

Officials report that this crackdown follows a substantial increase in complaints regarding illegal commercial developments within designated residential areas. The problem has become particularly acute along South City and Ayali Khurd roads, where residential plots are being converted into shops and medical facilities without proper government authorization.

Mahal Hospital has been specifically identified as one establishment operating without approved building plans. Residents have voiced concerns about the resulting traffic congestion and severe parking shortages caused by these unauthorized commercial conversions in what should be residential neighborhoods.

Strict Enforcement Measures Implemented

Despite receiving initial warnings from authorities, many developers continued their construction work unabated. This defiance has prompted Glada to take decisive action, beginning with the cancellation of residential building plans for the offending properties.

Additional Chief Administrator Vikas Hira emphasized that the agency is now escalating its response. "We are moving toward stricter enforcement measures," Hira stated, "including property seals and potential demolition drives to halt unplanned development across the entire Ludhiana district."

Public Advisory and Zero-Tolerance Policy

Glada's chief administrator has issued a strong public advisory urging property buyers and developers to strictly adhere to sanctioned layouts and building regulations. The authority recommends that prospective property purchasers verify colony credentials through Glada's official website before making any investment decisions.

The development authority maintains what it describes as a "zero-tolerance policy" toward what officials term the "mushrooming" of illegal buildings. This stance aims to protect urban infrastructure integrity and ensure public convenience in Ludhiana's rapidly developing areas.

This enforcement action represents Glada's commitment to maintaining planned urban development and preventing the haphazard growth that can compromise city infrastructure and residents' quality of life.
