In a notice dated March 16, the authority has granted slum dwellers a conclusive 15-day period to furnish all required documents and information. The SRA has explicitly warned that failure to comply within this timeframe will result in decisions being made based solely on available official records and previously collected survey data, potentially affecting rehabilitation benefits.
This final notice follows extensive efforts by the SRA to ensure maximum resident participation, including a comprehensive door-to-door survey conducted throughout 2024 and multiple rounds of notices and reminders. The authority organized facilitation camps in November 2025 to assist residents with in-person document submission, yet officials report that numerous households remain non-compliant.
Challenges in Documentation Collection
Authorities have identified several obstacles in the documentation process, noting that some structures could not be properly surveyed due to resident absence, locked premises, or ongoing domestic disputes. Despite implementing comprehensive information, education, and communication (IEC) campaigns to encourage participation, the response has been only partial.
The SRA emphasized that this final notice has been issued in strict adherence to principles of natural justice, providing residents with one ultimate opportunity before eligibility determinations are finalized. Officials stressed that the Dharavi redevelopment is being implemented as an integrated project under the Maharashtra Slum Areas Act, with core objectives of ensuring equity and transparency throughout the process.

Scrutiny of submitted documents is currently in progress, with draft eligibility lists being prepared for different sectors within Dharavi.
