After facing numerous delays and missed deadlines, a significant push is underway to complete ten major road infrastructure projects in Bengaluru within the next six months. These long-awaited projects, which include flyovers and grade separators, aim to decongest some of the city's most notorious traffic bottlenecks.
A Glimmer of Hope for Commuters
The list of projects, eagerly monitored by citizens and experts alike, has seen constant developments that have often pushed back initial completion dates. This cycle of delays has fueled reservations regarding their feasibility and final execution. However, recent assessments indicate a concerted effort to wrap up construction on these ten critical links by mid-2026.
Key Projects Nearing the Finish Line
The projects slated for completion span various parts of the city. In the northern corridors, work is intensifying on the flyover at Yelahanka police station circle and the ramps near Yelahanka Railway Station. The Jakkur railway overbridge is also part of this crucial northern cluster aimed at easing connectivity.
Western and southwestern Bengaluru will see relief with the completion of the HMT grade separator, the Jalahalli Circle grade separator, and the bridge near Bengaluru University junction. The Kerekodi Road grade separator is another key project in this zone.
Other significant infrastructure includes the Ullal main road grade separators, the Annapoorneshwari Nagara Main Road grade separators, and the Pipeline Road via Kurubarahalli Ejipura corridor. Additionally, several projects on Ring Road are in their final stages of development.
Managing Expectations and Deadlines
While the new six-month timeline offers hope, the history of postponements has made citizens and urban planners cautious. The successful and timely completion of these projects is seen as a critical test for the city's infrastructure development agencies. If delivered as promised, these ten projects could bring substantial, tangible improvements to Bengaluru's daily traffic flow, reducing travel time and frustration for thousands of commuters. The focus now shifts to on-ground execution to ensure the deadlines, set as of 03 January 2026, are finally met.
