In a significant crackdown on unauthorized urban development, the District Town Planner (DTP) enforcement team in Ambala has carried out a large-scale demolition drive. The action targeted six illegal colonies that had sprung up across approximately 21.5 acres of land within the Ambala Cantonment urban area.
Details of the Demolition Operation
The enforcement drive was part of a sustained campaign against illegal land development. According to official information, the team took action in three separate villages. In Chandpura village under Ambala Cantonment tehsil, demolition was conducted on two illegally developed colonies covering about 10.1 acres of land.
Similarly, in Sareri village, also within the same tehsil, authorities demolished three illegal colonies spread over approximately 10.2 acres. Furthermore, one additional illegal colony covering nearly 1 acre in Ranwala village was also razed to the ground during the operation.
Infrastructure and Structures Destroyed
The enforcement team did not stop at just clearing the land. They completely dismantled the network of kutcha (temporary) roads that had been laid out within these illegal colonies to facilitate access and plot sales. More critically, the team identified and fully demolished 27 under-construction structures found at the various sites. This decisive step was taken to prevent any further unauthorized development and to send a strong deterrent message.
Official Warning to the Public
The demolition drive was executed under the supervision of duty magistrate-cum-District Town Planner Rohit Chauhan. Speaking on the occasion, DTP Chauhan issued a stern public appeal. He urged citizens not to fall prey to the misleading assurances of property dealers and to strictly refrain from purchasing plots or shops in illegal, unauthorized colonies.
He cautioned that investing in such developments is risky and could lead to significant financial losses and legal troubles. Chauhan also strictly advised the public against undertaking any construction activity in these prohibited areas.
The government has reiterated that departmental action against illegal colonies and unauthorized constructions will continue in the future. Residents and potential investors have been strongly urged to verify the complete legal status of any land or colony with the relevant authorities before making any property-related investment to avoid complications.
