UP Mega Job Fair Delivers Employment to Over 2,500 Youths
In a significant boost to employment opportunities, the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) organized a mega job fair that resulted in 2,527 youths receiving job offers from leading companies. The event, held in Lucknow, witnessed participation from 8,700 candidates who interacted with 116 companies, including major names like Tata, Hero, Swiggy, and Flipkart, as well as firms from the logistics and healthcare sectors.
Demographic Breakdown and Salary Details
Of the total employed youths, 2,033 were men and 494 were women, showcasing a diverse participation. Notably, 56 candidates from families under the ‘Zero Poverty Campaign’ also secured job offers, highlighting the fair's inclusive approach. Selected candidates were offered attractive salary packages, with some reaching up to Rs 40,000 per month, providing substantial financial stability.
Launch of Digital Platforms to Modernize Skill Development
During the fair, Minister Kapil Dev Agarwal launched three innovative digital platforms aimed at revolutionizing the skill development ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh:
- Kaushal Drishti: A real-time monitoring mobile application for skill development training centers. This app provides instant access to information on trainee attendance, infrastructure quality, and training standards.
- Kaushal Darpan: An AI-based dashboard offering integrated skill development data. It features a digital map of UP, total population statistics, active training provider counts, and an overview of key employment-oriented sectors.
- Kaushal Dost: A 24/7 chatbot designed to assist users with training programs, government schemes, and employment opportunities, ensuring round-the-clock support.
Government Focus on Skill-Based Empowerment
Addressing the youth at the event, Minister Agarwal emphasized that "success comes not only from degrees but from skills, confidence, and effective communication ability." He encouraged candidates to be confident in their capabilities and not hesitate in pursuing opportunities. Reiterating the government's mission, Agarwal stressed the goal of transforming youth into job creators and entrepreneurs rather than mere job seekers.
To prepare youths for evolving industry demands, training is being provided in advanced sectors such as robotics, drones, artificial intelligence, 3D printing, solar energy, and electric vehicles. This forward-thinking approach aims to align skills with future market needs.
Infrastructure and Technological Enhancements
Principal Secretary Hariom of the Department of Vocational Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship highlighted the state's robust infrastructure, noting that 350 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) are currently operational, with 30 more under construction. These institutes are equipped with modern technology to deliver quality training.
Director Pulkit Khare of UPSDM added that a QR code-based system was implemented for digital registration at the job fair, eliminating long queues and streamlining the process for candidates. This technological intervention enhanced efficiency and participant experience.
Future Job Fairs and Continued Efforts
The success of this event has paved the way for more initiatives, with the next two job fairs scheduled in Jhansi on March 24 and Varanasi on March 25. These efforts underscore the government's commitment to reducing unemployment and fostering economic growth through skill development and direct employment opportunities.
