Delhi Employment Exchange Sees 21,000 Registrations in 2024
The Delhi labour department's employment exchange recorded a total of 21,000 registrations during the year 2024. This figure includes a notable number of highly educated individuals seeking employment opportunities in the national capital.
Breakdown of Registrations by Gender
Among the 21,000 registrations, men accounted for 13,997 applications. Women submitted 7,025 registrations, while one registration came from a transgender person. The data reveals a clear gender disparity in job seekers approaching the exchange.
Educational Qualifications of Applicants
The employment exchange attracted applicants with diverse educational backgrounds. More than 1,400 postgraduates registered for jobs through the portal. Additionally, 1,342 diploma holders and five PhD holders submitted their applications.
Graduates formed a significant portion of the applicant pool. Arts graduates led the way with 2,925 applications, followed by science graduates with 1,025 registrations. This represents an increase from 2023, when only 663 science graduates applied.
Applicants with matriculation, higher secondary, or intermediate education numbered 10,069 in 2024. This marks a substantial decrease from the previous year's figure of 30,527 applicants at these educational levels.
Declining Registration Numbers
The total number of applicants who registered on the employment exchange portal dropped sharply in 2024. Only 19,941 people completed registrations through the digital platform, compared to 43,217 registrations in 2023. This represents a significant decline of over 50% in portal registrations year-over-year.
Unemployment Rate and Wage Information
Delhi's unemployment rate showed a slight increase during the 2023-24 period. The rate moved up to 2.1% from the previous level of 1.9%. This indicates a marginal worsening of employment conditions in the capital city.
As of April 2025, the minimum wage structure in Delhi stood at specific levels. Unskilled workers received Rs 18,456 per month, while graduates and above earned Rs 24,356 monthly. These wage rates reflect the government's established minimum standards for different worker categories.
Trade Union Registrations
The year 2024 also saw significant activity in labor organization. A total of 1,567 trade unions registered in the national capital, indicating continued interest in collective bargaining and worker representation.
The employment exchange data provides valuable insights into Delhi's job market dynamics. It highlights both the challenges faced by job seekers and the changing patterns of employment registration in the capital city.
