Uttar Pradesh Hosts Inaugural Pharma Conclave to Strengthen Medical Manufacturing Sector

In a significant move to establish itself as a premier pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing hub in India, the Uttar Pradesh government is set to host its first-ever Pharma Conclave on Tuesday. This event marks a strategic effort by the state to attract substantial investments and foster growth in the healthcare industry.

Government Initiatives and Policy Framework

Organized by Invest UP and the state's Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) department, the conclave will highlight the state government's investor-friendly policy framework and governance reforms. These measures are specifically designed to boost pharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities across Uttar Pradesh.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the event, with Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda scheduled to attend. An official spokesperson emphasized the state's commitment, stating, "Uttar Pradesh's healthcare and pharmaceutical sector has undergone rapid transformation over the past eight and a half years. As India's largest healthcare consumer market, UP is dedicated to strengthening domestic manufacturing."

The conclave will feature senior leadership from major pharmaceutical companies, including:

  • Dilip Shanghvi, Chairman of Sun Pharma
  • Pankaj R Patel, Chairman of Zydus Pharma
  • Ramesh Juneja, Chairman of Mankind Pharma
  • Dr. Satish Reddy, Chairman of Dr. Reddy's
  • Jinal Mehta, Vice-Chairman of Torrent

These industry leaders will engage in focused discussions on sectoral growth, investment opportunities, and policy support necessary for advancing the pharmaceutical landscape.

Collaborative Efforts and Infrastructure Showcase

The Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA) is partnering with the state government for this conclave, alongside other prominent industry bodies such as:

  • Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association
  • Bulk Drug Manufacturers Association of India
  • Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India
  • Federation of Pharma Entrepreneurs

Additionally, the event will showcase key infrastructure projects, including the bulk drug park in Lalitpur and the medical device park in Greater Noida, highlighting Uttar Pradesh's readiness to support large-scale manufacturing operations.
