In a significant boost to industrial development in the National Capital Region, Wonderland Foods has announced a major investment to establish a state-of-the-art nuts and dry fruits processing facility in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) area. The project, with a total outlay of approximately Rs 240 crore, is set to become a key player in the region's food processing sector.
Land Allotment and Project Timeline
The formal process was set in motion when Rakesh Kumar Singh, the CEO of Yamuna Authority, presented the letter of intent for the industrial plot to the company's leadership. The allocated land spans 30,000 square metres and is located in Sector 8D of the YEIDA region. According to the company's plans, commercial production at the new facility is expected to commence within 24 months from the date it takes physical possession of the allotted land parcel.
Foreign Investment and Financial Backing
A notable aspect of this project is its substantial foreign direct investment (FDI) component. The funding consortium includes Asha Ventures Fund–I and the British International Investment PLC, which is a development finance institution wholly owned by the United Kingdom government. Together, these entities are injecting Rs 140 crore into the venture, providing a solid financial foundation for its execution.
Employment and Economic Impact
The social and economic implications of the project are substantial. Rakesh Kumar Gupta, Chairman of Wonderland Foods, highlighted that the processing unit will create direct employment opportunities for over 750 women from economically weaker sections of society, promoting inclusive growth. Once the plant reaches its full operational capacity, it is projected to generate an impressive annual revenue exceeding Rs 800 crore, contributing significantly to the local and state exchequer.
This investment underscores the growing attractiveness of the Yamuna Expressway industrial corridor for large-scale manufacturing and processing ventures. It aligns with broader initiatives to enhance India's food processing capabilities while generating substantial employment, particularly for women, in the Noida and Greater Noida region.
