Renault India Unveils the New 2026 Duster SUV with Aggressive Pricing and Enhanced Features
Renault India has officially launched the highly anticipated 2026 Duster SUV in the Indian automotive market. This new generation model is available in five distinct variants: Authentic, Evolution, Techno, Techno Plus, and Iconic. The pricing strategy is competitive, with ex-showroom prices ranging from Rs 10.29 lakh to Rs 18.09 lakh, positioning the Duster as a strong contender in the midsize SUV segment.
Pricing and Booking Details
The entry-level price of Rs 10.29 lakh is specifically for customers who pre-book their vehicles by March 2026. After this promotional period, the standard starting price will increase to Rs 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Pre-bookings are currently open, allowing interested buyers to secure their Duster either online or through authorized dealerships across the country. Deliveries are scheduled to commence shortly, with the company indicating strong initial demand.
Fuel Efficiency and Powertrain Specifications
Renault has released the ARAI-tested fuel-efficiency figures for the 2026 Duster's 1.3-litre turbo-petrol powertrains, developed in collaboration with Daimler (Mercedes-Benz). This engine delivers impressive performance with 163 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque, providing a robust and smooth driving experience characterized by a noticeable power surge during acceleration.
The claimed mileage stands at 17.75 kmpl for the manual gearbox variant and 18.45 kmpl for the wet-clutch DCT automatic option. These figures place the Duster favorably against its rivals, such as the Hyundai Creta. For comparison, the Creta's 1.5 turbo petrol variant with a 7-speed DCT automatic offers an ARAI-rated 18.4 kmpl, just marginally higher than the Duster. The Creta's manual and CVT petrol variants return 17.4 kmpl and 17.7 kmpl, respectively, while its diesel variants achieve 21.8 kmpl (manual) and 19.1 kmpl (automatic).
Notably, Renault has not yet disclosed mileage figures for the entry-level 100hp turbo-petrol manual and strong hybrid variants. Prices for the hybrid model remain unannounced, with details expected to be revealed later. Despite this, the entire 2026 allocation has already been sold out, highlighting significant consumer interest, particularly in urban areas where hybrid variants account for 39% of bookings in metro cities. Bookings for 2027 deliveries are anticipated to reopen around Diwali 2026.
Design and Interior Features
The 2026 Duster incorporates India-specific design modifications while maintaining the overall silhouette of its third-generation global counterpart. Exterior updates include redesigned headlamps with eyebrow-shaped LED daytime running lights that double as turn indicators, a revised grille featuring prominent Duster badging instead of the Renault logo, and a front bumper with a protruding silver surround and pixel-style fog lamps.
From the side, the SUV showcases black cladding over the wheel arches and lower body, C-pillar-mounted rear door handles, and functional roof rails. The rear design features triangular tail-lamps connected by an LED light bar exclusive to the Indian version, along with a roof-mounted spoiler, textured licence plate housing, and a black rear bumper with a silver insert.
Inside, the Duster's cabin has been extensively redesigned for the Indian market. It boasts a completely new dashboard with a dual-screen layout, soft-touch surfaces, and revised trim elements. The interior is accentuated with silver accents and contrast green stitching, a dedicated button panel on the centre console, and a slide-adjustable front armrest with storage.
Advanced Technology and Safety Features
The 2026 Duster is equipped with a host of modern features, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger, dual-zone climate control, a powered tailgate, 6-way powered and ventilated front seats, 48-colour ambient lighting, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, and multiple drive modes.
Safety is a priority, with the SUV offering six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, a 360-degree camera, an electric parking brake, disc brakes on all four wheels, and Level 2 ADAS features, ensuring comprehensive protection for occupants.
Overall, the 2026 Renault Duster SUV combines competitive pricing, impressive fuel efficiency, and a feature-rich package, making it a compelling choice for Indian consumers seeking a versatile and capable midsize SUV.
