In a significant push for industrial development in western Odisha, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for twenty major industrial projects with a combined investment of Rs 30,000 crore. This two-day event will take place during his visit to Sambalpur and Sundargarh districts on January 27 and 28, as confirmed by state officials.
Massive Investment to Generate Thousands of Jobs

Enterprise Odisha 2026 Business Summit Launch
During his visit, Chief Minister Majhi will also inaugurate Enterprise Odisha 2026, a flagship business summit organized by the Odisha government in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The summit will be held in Rourkela and aims to accelerate industrial expansion, enhance investment facilitation, and promote employment generation across western Odisha.
Key Project: Hindalco's Flat Rolled Products Unit
One of the notable projects to be inaugurated is Hindalco's flat rolled products manufacturing unit, which is being established at Lapanga in Sambalpur. This facility involves an investment exceeding Rs 5,000 crore, highlighting the scale of industrial development underway in the area.
Western Odisha Emerges as Industrial Powerhouse
Officials emphasized that Odisha is rapidly transforming its industrial landscape by diversifying beyond traditional sectors. The state is building a robust, employment-driven, and future-ready industrial ecosystem, with western Odisha positioned as the next major growth engine for the region.
Post-Election Investment Momentum
Since the formation of the new state government, western Odisha has experienced remarkable momentum in industrial investments. Officials revealed that investment proposals worth Rs 1,28,472 crore have been approved, with the potential to generate an impressive 69,338 jobs. This reflects a strong commitment to economic development and industrial progress in the state.
