MIDC Forms Nodal Committee to Fast-Track Amravati PM MITRA Park Phase 2
Nodal Committee to Accelerate Amravati PM MITRA Park Phase 2

In a significant move to boost industrial growth in the Vidarbha region, the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has established a dedicated nodal committee. This committee's primary mandate is to accelerate the development of the second phase of the prestigious PM MITRA Textile Park located in Amravati.

Committee to Spearhead Key Development Activities

The newly formed committee, created following a recent official circular, will be led by key officials including a deputy chief executive officer and a chief engineer. Its responsibilities are comprehensive and critical to the project's success. The panel will oversee the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR), a foundational document for any large-scale infrastructure project.

Furthermore, the committee is tasked with securing all necessary permits and clearances from various government bodies. Beyond the bureaucratic and planning stages, it will also handle the vital aspects of publicity and marketing for the park. This includes organizing outreach campaigns and round-table conferences to attract investors and stakeholders.

A Major Economic Driver for Vidarbha

The Amravati park is one of only seven PM MITRA Textile Parks approved by the Central Government across India, making it Maharashtra's sole representative in this national initiative. It is a massive brownfield project spanning 1,020 acres with a projected investment of ₹1,492 crore. The park is expected to be a monumental job creator, with estimates suggesting it could generate employment for over 2 lakh people in the region.

Prashant Mohota, President of the Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA), provided context on the project's scale. He confirmed that Phase 1 of the PM MITRA Textile Park has already been implemented on 900 acres. The current focus, Phase 2, is being developed on an additional 1,000 acres. Mohota emphasized the project's regional importance, stating it "is expected to provide a lifeline to textile projects in Vidarbha."

Coordinating the Mega-Project

The nodal committee's role extends beyond local coordination. It will act as the crucial link between the state-level execution and various central government bodies. The committee is specifically responsible for liaising with the central project management committee, the park monitoring committee, and the project approval committee.

Additionally, ensuring the provision of essential infrastructure—such as power, water, and roads—within the park premises falls under its purview. This holistic approach aims to create a seamless ecosystem for textile manufacturing units, from spinning and weaving to processing and garmenting.

The establishment of this dedicated nodal body signals the Maharashtra government's serious intent to fast-track this transformative project. By streamlining processes and centralizing oversight, the state aims to unlock Vidarbha's potential as a future textile hub, bringing massive investment and employment to the region.
