Nagpur Railway Freight Revenue Hits ₹360 Cr in Nov 2025

The Nagpur Division of Central Railway has announced a record-breaking performance in freight operations for the month of November 2025, showcasing substantial growth across several key commodity segments and significantly boosting its revenue earnings.

Record-Breaking Revenue and Rake Movements

In a powerful display of operational efficiency, the division managed the movement of 859 freight rakes throughout November. This impressive logistical feat translated into a substantial financial gain, generating a total freight revenue of ₹359.94 crore. This performance underscores the division's critical role as a major artery for goods transportation in the region.

Commodity-Wise Breakdown: Coal Leads, Others Surge

As expected, coal remained the cornerstone of the freight loading profile. The division handled a massive 642 rakes dedicated to coal, which contributed ₹228.94 crore to the overall revenue pool.

However, the most striking stories emerged from other sectors. Iron ore loading witnessed an explosive 383% growth compared to the same period last year. From just 17 rakes earning ₹11.82 crore in November 2024, the volume jumped to 76 rakes, bringing in ₹57.11 crore.

The most extraordinary growth was seen in clinker transport. The division handled 56 rakes of clinker, generating ₹30.74 crore. This represents a staggering, almost unprecedented year-on-year increase of 49,707%, skyrocketing from a mere ₹0.06 crore earned from a single rake in November 2024.

Steady Gains Across Other Materials

Other commodities also posted strong numbers, indicating broad-based growth:

  • Iron and Steel: Loading improved by 65%, with 7 rakes earning ₹2.16 crore compared to ₹1.31 crore from 4 rakes last year.
  • Iron Slag: Revenue jumped 234%, with 9 rakes contributing ₹3.65 crore against ₹1.10 crore from 3 rakes previously.
  • Fly Ash: This category, which had no loading in November 2024, made a new entry with 5 rakes adding ₹1.43 crore to the revenue stream.

Driving Factors and Future Goals

Railway officials credited this remarkable achievement to the division's sustained efforts in infrastructure development, operational streamlining, and building robust partnerships with industries. By enhancing connectivity and reliability, the division has successfully attracted higher freight volumes from key economic players in its jurisdiction.

The Nagpur Division aims to build on this powerful momentum. Its strategy is not only to further strengthen its own freight performance metrics but also to act as a catalyst for broader regional economic growth, facilitating easier and more efficient movement of raw materials and finished goods.
