MPIDC Aims to Create Major Industrial Belt in Shajapur with Land Expansion

The Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation is taking a significant step to boost industrial growth in the state. MPIDC has submitted a proposal to expand its undeveloped land bank at Polaykala–Pipalrawa in Shajapur district.

Addressing Fragmented Land Parcels

MPIDC executive director Rajesh Rathore explained the current challenge. The corporation's existing land holdings are scattered across multiple small patches. This fragmentation restricts opportunities for large-scale industrial development.

"The earlier land was spread across several small chunks of 200 hectares, 60 hectares, and other smaller pieces," Rathore stated. "There was a clear need for a large, continuous land bank to properly develop an industrial area or allot substantial land to industries."

Proposed Land Transfer and Expansion

To solve this problem, MPIDC has identified additional land parcels measuring 200 hectares. The corporation has formally applied for their transfer from the Shajapur district administration.

"We are expecting the transfer of the land from Shajapur administration soon," Rathore said. "Once this transfer is completed, our total land bank at Polaykala–Pipalrawa will increase significantly to 500 hectares."

Developing a Major Industrial Belt

With this expanded land bank, MPIDC plans to develop a substantial industrial area at Polaykala–Pipalrawa. This location lies in a relatively remote part of Shajapur district, making the development particularly strategic.

"We are planning a major industrial belt in Polaykala–Pipalrawa," Rathore emphasized. "Developing an organized industrial area in such a remote region will help drive overall economic growth for the area and create valuable employment opportunities for local residents."

Attracting Manufacturing Units and Strengthening Presence

Officials highlight several benefits of this expansion:

  • The larger, contiguous land bank will enable MPIDC to attract medium and large manufacturing units
  • The development will strengthen industrial presence in underdeveloped regions of Madhya Pradesh
  • The project supports broader state economic development goals

The industrial area development will proceed in phases. Infrastructure planning will begin once the land transfer process is fully completed. This systematic approach ensures proper development of facilities and services for future industrial tenants.

This expansion represents a strategic move by MPIDC to create more favorable conditions for industrial growth. By consolidating fragmented land parcels into a single, substantial industrial belt, the corporation aims to make Shajapur district more attractive to investors while promoting regional economic development.
