MIDC CEO Issues Directives to Boost Nashik's Industrial Growth
In a significant move to accelerate industrial development in Nashik, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) CEO P Velarasu has issued clear directives to regional officials. During a review meeting at the Nashik regional office in Udyog Bhavan on Friday, Velarasu emphasized the urgent need to speed up land acquisition processes for upcoming industries across the district.
Comprehensive Road Development Plan Ordered
The CEO specifically instructed officials to prepare a detailed road development plan for both Ambad and Satpur industrial estates. This comprehensive plan must be submitted to MIDC's head office in Mumbai for approval and implementation. Velarasu stressed that improved infrastructure is crucial for attracting and supporting industrial growth in the region.
"CEO P Velarasu has directed us to speed up the land acquisition process at all locations and ensure that land acquisition is completed at the earliest and made available for industries wanting to set up their manufacturing bases here," confirmed MIDC officials present at the meeting.
Collaboration with Industrial Associations
During his city tour, Velarasu also emphasized the importance of collaboration between MIDC officials and industrial associations. He specifically instructed officials to work closely with these associations to persuade farmers for land acquisition, recognizing that community engagement is essential for smooth industrial expansion.
The meeting saw participation from key industrial stakeholders including Ashish Nahar, president of Nashik Industries & Manufacturers' Association (NIMA), and its vice-president Manish Rawal. Their presence underscored the collaborative approach being advocated by MIDC leadership.
Land Acquisition Challenges and Proposals
MIDC officials revealed that approximately 900 hectares have been proposed for industrial use at various locations in Nashik district over the past two years. However, the acquisition process has been progressing slowly, which has been hampering the industrial growth potential of the region.
The proposed land acquisitions include:
- Approximately 258 hectares at Advan in Igatpuri taluka, where automotive major Mahindra and Mahindra has sought around 140 hectares (350 acres)
- 281 hectares at Maparwadi in Sinnar taluka
- 100 hectares adjacent to the existing MIDC estate at Malegaon in Sinnar taluka
- 150 hectares at Rajur Bahula, with some portion reserved for proposed IT development
- 90 hectares adjacent to the existing Talegaon-Akrale industrial estate, located about 7 km from Nashik Airport in Dindori taluka
It's worth noting that MIDC has already developed a new industrial estate on 260 hectares in the Talegaon-Akrale area, which is approximately 18 km from Nashik city.
Infrastructure Review and Future Plans
The CEO's visit to the Nashik regional office was specifically aimed at reviewing the current status of land acquisition for industries at various locations throughout the district. Beyond land matters, the meeting also addressed other critical infrastructural issues that need resolution to facilitate industrial growth.
Officials added that "We have also been told to conduct a survey for the road development plan, and send it to the head office of MIDC in Mumbai," indicating that infrastructure development is being treated with equal priority alongside land acquisition efforts.
This comprehensive approach by MIDC leadership signals a renewed push to transform Nashik into a major industrial hub, addressing both land availability and infrastructure development simultaneously to attract more manufacturing investments to the region.
