New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Limited reported a record-breaking financial performance for the fiscal year 2025-26, achieving its highest-ever revenue and sales volumes. However, the company's profitability remained nearly flat as escalating costs eroded margins.
Financial Highlights for FY26
The automaker's consolidated revenue surged to over Rs 1.8 lakh crore, marking a robust 19.9% increase compared to the previous fiscal year. Total vehicle sales reached an all-time high of 24.2 lakh units, reflecting strong demand across its portfolio.
Despite the top-line growth, net profit for the full year edged up merely 1.2% to Rs 14,680 crore. The company attributed the subdued profit growth to higher material costs, increased employee expenses, and greater depreciation charges, which collectively squeezed operating margins.
March Quarter Performance
The trend continued in the January-March quarter of 2026. Revenue jumped 28.6% year-on-year to Rs 52,462 crore, driven by robust sales. However, net profit declined 6.4% to Rs 3,659 crore, underscoring the persistent cost pressures.
Chairman's Outlook
R C Bhargava, Chairman of Maruti Suzuki India, commented on the company's performance and the broader industry landscape. He noted that the auto industry is back in a growth phase, supported by stronger consumer demand and favorable government policies, including reduced taxes on small cars.
Bhargava highlighted that supply bottlenecks are easing and new production capacity is coming online. Maruti Suzuki expects to roll out approximately 2.5 lakh additional vehicles this year. He emphasized that the primary constraint is not demand but manufacturing capacity. The company is adding new production lines, which will bring roughly 5 lakh units of additional annual capacity this year.
Future Prospects
With the addition of new capacity, Maruti Suzuki aims to capitalize on the growing demand in the Indian automotive market. The company remains optimistic about sustained growth, driven by economic expansion, rising incomes, and supportive government measures.
