Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest carmaker, reported its highest-ever monthly sales in April, selling 239,646 units. This represents a significant increase from the 198,482 units sold in April 2023, marking a growth of over 20% year-on-year.
Strong Performance Across Segments
The company's domestic sales stood at 194,058 units, while exports contributed 45,588 units. The mini and compact segment, which includes models like the Alto, S-Presso, Baleno, and Dzire, saw sales of 123,561 units. The utility vehicle segment, including the Brezza, Ertiga, and Grand Vitara, recorded 68,705 units sold.
Factors Driving Growth
Maruti Suzuki attributed the record performance to a combination of factors, including a strong product portfolio, expanded sales network, and effective marketing campaigns. The company also benefited from easing supply chain constraints, particularly in semiconductor availability, which had previously hampered production.
In a statement, the company said, "We are delighted to report our highest-ever monthly sales, which reflects the strong customer trust in our brand and the sustained demand for our vehicles. We remain committed to delivering value to our customers through innovation and excellence."
Market Outlook
Industry analysts expect the positive trend to continue, driven by the upcoming festive season and new model launches. Maruti Suzuki is also focusing on expanding its SUV lineup and strengthening its presence in the electric vehicle segment.
The company's stock rose by 1.2% on the Bombay Stock Exchange following the announcement, reflecting investor confidence in its growth trajectory.
