A significant fire incident occurred at a Tata vendor company located in the Sanand GIDC area of Ahmedabad on Sunday afternoon, resulting in thick black smoke billowing across the industrial region. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though multiple sections of the plant were completely destroyed, according to officials.
Fire Response and Containment Efforts
An officer from the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) stated that the blaze was reported at approximately 1:30 PM. The initial response was led by Tata's in-house fire service, followed by teams from the Sanand civic body. As the fire intensified and proved challenging to contain, the Ahmedabad fire brigade was alerted for additional support.
Four teams comprising nearly 30 personnel were dispatched to the location. The firefighting operation continued until late Sunday evening. In total, ten fire tenders were deployed to bring the flames under control. The officer added that the fire spread rapidly, engulfing multiple divisions of the plant within a short period. However, all personnel working inside were safely evacuated by the company's internal teams before the situation escalated.
Investigation and Damage Assessment
A team of forensic experts has been called in to determine the exact cause of the fire. While there were no casualties, preliminary reports indicate significant property damage. A spokesperson for Tata AutoComp Systems Limited confirmed the incident, stating, "A minor fire at our warehouse was promptly contained by trained response teams, with no injuries. The incident remained isolated from the main shop floor, and operations continued without disruption. We are supporting authorities as they review the cause, while our safety protocols and personnel welfare remain paramount."
