Lucknow Residents Grapple with Prolonged LPG Cylinder Delivery Delays
Delivery of domestic LPG cylinders continues to fall significantly short on the ground in Lucknow, with residents across the city facing extensive delays even after formally booking their refills. A comprehensive reality check conducted in multiple parts of the city has pointed to a widespread and persistent problem within the delivery system, affecting numerous neighborhoods.
Widespread Complaints from Key Residential Areas
The investigation covered several prominent areas including Aliganj, Gomti Nagar, Indira Nagar, Mahanagar, and Ashiana, revealing a consistent pattern of delivery failures. In Aliganj, resident Sunita Verma reported booking a refill eight days prior. "We received the delivery authentication code within two days, but the cylinder did not arrive for another five days," she explained, highlighting the gap between confirmation and actual service.
Similar grievances emerged from Gomti Nagar, where Rajeev Srivastava stated his family waited nearly a full week after receiving the DAC. "The message clearly said the cylinder would be delivered soon, but no one turned up despite the assurance," he recounted. These accounts underscore a troubling disconnect between the streamlined digital confirmation system and the physical delivery logistics on the ground.
Systemic Issues in the Delivery Process
Consumers have alleged that despite receiving the Delivery Authentication Code—a mechanism introduced specifically to streamline and confirm doorstep delivery—cylinders are frequently not supplied within the promised or expected timeframe. In numerous documented cases, deliveries were delayed by five to seven days after the code was officially issued, causing considerable inconvenience to households.
Ravi Mishra from Balaganj shared that repeated follow-ups with local agencies often yielded vague and unsatisfactory responses. Delivery staff commonly cited a shortage of vehicles as a primary reason for the persistent delays, pointing to logistical bottlenecks.
Agency Insights into Supply and Demand Pressures
An agency owner operating in Lajpat Nagar, speaking on condition of anonymity, provided further context to the crisis. He indicated that supply from distributors has not been as frequent or reliable as in earlier periods, while consumer demand has simultaneously increased due to the very delays in deliveries. This creates a vicious cycle where backlogs compound, exacerbating the wait times for residents.
The situation highlights significant operational challenges within the LPG supply chain in Lucknow, affecting daily life and household management across the city. Residents continue to hope for a swift resolution to these persistent delivery issues.
