L&T Launches Industrial Electronics Vertical LTEPS

Chennai: Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has officially entered the industrial electronics market with the establishment of a new business vertical named L&T Electronic Products and Systems (LTEPS). The company announced this development in an exchange filing, highlighting its focus on design, product development, and contract manufacturing services.

Focus Areas and Operations

LTEPS will concentrate on several key domains, including power electronics, mobility solutions, industrial robotics and automation, and communication platforms. The new vertical will be headquartered in Bengaluru, while its manufacturing operations will be based in Coimbatore. Production has already commenced on two dedicated lines at the Coimbatore campus, targeting electronics manufacturing services for both domestic and international clients.

Expansion Plans

L&T has outlined ambitious plans for LTEPS, including the development of a 40-acre zone within the Coimbatore campus. This zone will cover the entire industrial electronics value chain, encompassing research and development, in-house product development, electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM), contract manufacturing, design and engineering support, sourcing, testing, and validation services.

The vertical aims to leverage L&T's existing expertise in strategic electronics by adopting a blended approach that combines in-house research and development, strategic technology partnerships, and advanced testing infrastructure.

Leadership Perspective

S N Subrahmanyan, Chairman and Managing Director of L&T, commented on the development: "The foray into industrial electronics is an important step towards our Lakshya 2031 aspiration of deepening technology leadership and enhancing India's self-reliance in critical manufacturing." He added that the business will support the nation's electronics manufacturing ecosystem while expanding L&T's presence across high-growth, innovation-driven domains.

This strategic move positions L&T to capitalize on the growing demand for industrial electronics in India and globally, reinforcing its commitment to technological advancement and self-sufficiency.
