Wardha: In a significant action against illegal liquor trade, the Deoli police destroyed liquor worth approximately Rs 12 lakh that had been seized in 115 separate cases. The disposal was carried out on Thursday following a court order, with thousands of bottles of both country-made and foreign liquor being crushed using a road roller.
Details of the Seizure and Disposal
The liquor had been confiscated during a sustained crackdown on the illegal manufacture, transportation, and sale of alcohol in the Deoli subdivision. The destruction of the seized stock was conducted under the supervision of Police Inspector Sandeep Kapade, in compliance with the directives issued by the court.
Officials from the State Excise Department, along with panch witnesses and police personnel, were present throughout the operation. After completing all legal and administrative formalities, the bottles were run over by a road roller to ensure complete destruction.
Impact and Future Plans
Police officials stated that the disposal has also helped alleviate storage constraints at the police station, which had been holding the seized liquor. They reiterated their commitment to continuing strict action against those involved in the illegal liquor trade.
The Deoli police have announced plans to intensify the drive against illicit liquor activities in the coming months. This move aims to curb the illegal business and prevent related offences, ensuring a safer environment for the residents.
