Kia India Introduces New HTE (EX) Variant for Carens Clavis MPV
Kia India has just rolled out a fresh variant for its popular Carens Clavis MPV. The new HTE (EX) trim aims to give buyers more choices in the competitive MPV segment. This move comes as part of Kia's strategy to boost sales and cater to diverse customer preferences.
Pricing Details for the HTE (EX) Variant
The HTE (EX) variant starts at an attractive price of ₹12.55 lakh, ex-showroom. Depending on the powertrain you select, the cost can go up to ₹14.53 lakh. Here is a quick breakdown of the pricing:
- 1.5-litre NA petrol MT: ₹12.55 lakh
- 1.5-litre turbo-petrol MT: ₹13.42 lakh
- 1.5-litre diesel MT: ₹14.53 lakh
This new variant commands a premium of ₹51,000 over the lower HTE (O) trim. Kia hopes this pricing will appeal to budget-conscious families looking for extra features.
Key Features of the HTE (EX) Trim
The HTE (EX) variant packs in all the features from the HTE (O) trim. On top of that, it adds some premium touches. You get LED daytime running lights, automatic climate control, and a driver window with auto one-touch up-down function.
Perhaps the most exciting addition is the single-pane sunroof. This marks the first time the naturally aspirated petrol engine version of the Carens Clavis comes with a sunroof. Previously, this feature was reserved for higher trims.
Powertrain Options and Specifications
Kia offers three engine choices with the HTE (EX) variant. Each comes with different transmission options to suit various driving needs.
- 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol: This engine produces 113 bhp and 144 Nm of torque. It pairs with a six-speed manual gearbox.
- 1.5-litre turbo-petrol: Generating 158 bhp and 253 Nm torque, this engine offers more punch. You can choose between a six-speed manual, a six-speed iMT, or a seven-speed DCT automatic.
- 1.5-litre diesel: With 114 bhp and 250 Nm torque, this diesel option provides good fuel efficiency. It comes with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
Kia India expects this expanded lineup to attract more buyers to the Carens Clavis. The company aims to see a noticeable sales bump in the coming months.
