Hyundai Unveils Refreshed 2026 Exter Facelift in India

Hyundai Motor India has officially launched the new and updated 2026 Hyundai Exter facelift in the Indian market. This marks the first significant update for the popular micro SUV since its initial debut in 2023. The refreshed model brings a host of design enhancements, additional features, improved safety standards, and other key updates, positioning it strongly against rivals like the Tata Punch, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and Toyota Taisor.

Pricing and Availability

The 2026 Hyundai Exter is priced competitively between Rs 5.79 lakh and Rs 9.41 lakh (ex-showroom). Interested customers can book the vehicle online or by visiting their nearest Hyundai dealership, with deliveries expected to commence by the end of this month. The updated lineup introduces new variant names, offering six distinct trims: HX2, HX4, HX4+, HX6, HX8, and HX10. Additionally, two new color options—Golden Bronze and Titanium Black Matte—have been added to the palette.

Variant-Wise Features and Specifications

Hyundai Exter HX2: As the entry-level trim, priced at Rs 5.80 lakh (Petrol MT) and Rs 7 lakh (CNG MT), it comes equipped with six airbags, halogen headlights, LED tail-lights, 15-inch steel wheels without covers, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, ESC, hill start assist, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, three-point seat belts with reminders for all passengers, an all-black cabin theme, fabric seat upholstery, a semi-digital driver’s display, manual AC, front power windows, driver seat height adjustment, adjustable rear headrests, and a 12V power outlet for front passengers.

Hyundai Exter HX3: Priced at Rs 6.24 lakh (Petrol MT), Rs 6.91 lakh (Petrol AMT), and Rs 7.44 lakh (CNG MT), this variant adds an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front and rear speakers, steering-mounted controls, a Type-C USB port for front passengers, a rear parking camera with driver rearview monitor, a day/night adjustable IRVM, a roof-mounted antenna, and a navy and grey interior theme.

Hyundai Exter HX4: Starting at Rs 7.22 lakh (Petrol MT) and Rs 8.27 lakh (CNG MT), it includes a tyre pressure monitoring system, LED DRLs, 15-inch steel wheels with dual-tone covers, rear AC vents, all power windows with driver-side auto-down, electrically adjustable ORVMs, Type-C USB ports for rear passengers, and a rear parcel tray on petrol variants. The HX4 Plus, offered only with a petrol AMT option at Rs 8.06 lakh, further adds an electric sunroof, LED turn indicators on ORVMs, wheel arch cladding, and electrically foldable ORVMs.

Hyundai Exter HX6: Priced from Rs 7.95 lakh (Petrol MT), Rs 8.55 lakh (Petrol AMT), and Rs 8.94 lakh (CNG MT), this trim offers a dashcam, rear defogger, projector halogen headlights, roof rails, a roof-mounted spoiler (petrol only), a shark-fin antenna, paddle shifters on AMT variants, cruise control on petrol variants, automatic climate control, and a foldable driver-side centre armrest.

Hyundai Exter HX8: Starting at Rs 8.36 lakh (Petrol MT), Rs 9.08 lakh (Petrol AMT), and Rs 9.41 lakh (CNG MT), it features automatic headlights, 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, footwell lighting, a leatherette-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever, a wireless phone charger, a cooled glovebox, and a rear wiper with washer.

Hyundai Exter HX10: The top-of-the-line variant, priced at Rs 9.42 lakh (ex-showroom) and available only with an automatic gearbox, includes all features from lower trims plus onboard navigation, metal pedals, and connected car technology with roof-mounted buttons.

Design and Interior Updates

The 2026 Hyundai Exter facelift boasts several exterior updates, including a wider front fascia, a revised bumper, and a new black radiator grille. It also sports new 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. At the rear, the SUV features a redesigned tailgate, updated C-pillar garnish, and a wing-type spoiler as part of the styling enhancements. Inside, the cabin retains a similar layout but now showcases a dual-tone navy and grey theme with a 3D carbon-pattern dashboard finish. Additional interior upgrades include a D-cut steering wheel, metal pedals, new seat upholstery, and a folding driver armrest. Driver seat height adjustment and adjustable rear headrests are now standard across all variants. Petrol versions maintain 391 liters of boot space.

Powertrain and Performance

The 2026 Hyundai Exter continues to be powered by a 1.2-liter four-cylinder Kappa petrol engine, available with both manual and AMT transmission options. Hyundai highlights that it remains the only model in its segment to feature a four-cylinder engine. A CNG variant with a dual-cylinder setup is also offered, now standard with an underbody-mounted spare wheel, providing 225 liters of boot space.
