A major fire erupted at a plastic waste processing facility in Gurgaon on Tuesday morning, sending plumes of toxic smoke billowing into the sky. In a separate incident occurring around the same time, a significant blaze also broke out at a tyre warehouse in the Daultabad industrial area, causing panic but resulting in no injuries.
Plastic Waste Site Engulfed in Flames Near Bar Gurjar
The first fire was reported around 7 am near the crusher zone of Bar Gurjar village. The site, used for processing industrial plastic waste, contained a large quantity of highly flammable material, which allowed the flames to spread rapidly. Alert passersby noticed the intense blaze and immediately informed the police and the fire control room.
Responding swiftly to the emergency call, authorities dispatched two fire tenders to the location. Firefighters battled the inferno for approximately an hour before successfully bringing it under control. "The fire was doused after about an hour," confirmed a fire officer, who also stated that no casualties were reported in this incident.
While the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, preliminary assessments by officials suggest it might have been triggered by a stray spark, given the combustible nature of the stored plastic waste.
Simultaneous Blaze at Daultabad Tyre Warehouse
Almost concurrently, panic spread through the Daultabad industrial area as a separate fire ignited in a warehouse storing tyres. This blaze proved to be more challenging to contain, requiring a much larger response. Fire services deployed a total of seven fire tenders from various stations to tackle the situation.
The fire originated on the first floor of the warehouse, which was packed with a substantial stock of tyres and other inflammable materials. As the tyres caught fire, they generated extremely dense, black smoke that severely reduced visibility and hampered firefighting efforts for a prolonged period.

Despite the challenges, crews managed to prevent a total catastrophe. The flames eventually spread to the ground floor, damaging some stored goods, but workers were able to safely rescue machinery from that area.
No Injuries Reported, Investigations Ongoing
In a significant relief for emergency responders and the local community, no injuries or casualties were reported in either of the two fire incidents. The primary damage was confined to property and stored materials.
These back-to-back incidents have highlighted the fire risks associated with industrial and waste storage facilities, particularly those holding large quantities of combustible goods like plastic and rubber. Investigations are ongoing to determine the precise causes of both fires, and authorities are likely to review safety protocols at similar sites in the Gurgaon region to prevent future occurrences.
