The Chas Municipal Corporation (CMC) in Bokaro has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the operator of Amrit Park Phase III, Kapil Ahmad, for alleged non-payment of dues and a bounced cheque. The case was filed at Pindrajora police station based on a complaint by city manager Ram Kumar Srivastava.
Contract and Dues
Ahmad was entrusted with the operation and maintenance of the park, located in ward 30, under a long-term agreement with the civic body. Additional municipal commissioner Sanjeev Kumar stated that the private agency was given charge of managing the park for 10 years. As per the contract, the operator was required to pay Rs 3.36 lakh annually to the corporation, with a 5% hike every year.
Bounced Cheque and Outstanding Amount
The civic body alleged that a cheque of around Rs 4.5 lakh, submitted by the operator on July 13, 2024, bounced when presented to the bank. Officials said the operator currently owes Rs 8.55 lakh, including Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Investigation and Legal Action
Police have initiated an investigation, and further legal action will depend on the findings. The case has also brought renewed attention to the park’s tender process. Sources indicated that the original tender was issued for 3 years but was later extended to 10 years.
CMC mayor Bholu Paswan said concerns were also raised over permission given for weddings and private events at the park, which were allegedly not part of the original tender terms. The civic body continues to monitor the situation, and further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
