BMW India has rolled out a series of thoughtful updates for its popular electric SUV, the iX1 Long Wheelbase (LWB). The refresh aims to bolster the vehicle's appeal among discerning Indian consumers by introducing a fresh exterior colour and more sustainable, premium interior options, all while keeping its core design and performance unchanged.
What's New on the Outside and Inside?
The most visible change is the introduction of a new, sophisticated paint option. Night Dusk Blue, a deep metallic shade, now joins the existing palette of Carbon Black, Mineral White, and Skyscraper Grey. This addition gives potential buyers a richer colour choice that accentuates the SUV's modern silhouette.
Inside the cabin, the updates are more significant and align with growing consumer preferences for sustainable luxury. BMW has added two new vegan leather upholstery choices. Customers can now opt for either the dual-tone Veganza Smoke White with Atlas Grey or the Veganza Castanea finish. Both options feature an elegant 3D stitching pattern, adding a layer of detailed craftsmanship.
Sustainable Design and Cocooning Comfort
BMW emphasises that these new interior materials are crafted from sustainably sourced elements. Furthermore, the cabin embraces BMW's 'cocooning effect' design philosophy. This approach extends the chosen upholstery colour and texture beyond the seats to the door panels, dashboard, and even the speaker mesh, creating a harmonious and immersive environment for all occupants.
Performance and Dimensions Remain a Strong Point
The mechanical heart of the iX1 LWB remains its proven fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology. The electric powertrain continues to deliver a robust 204bhp and 250Nm of torque, drawing energy from a 66.4kWh battery pack mounted in the floor. This setup promises a claimed driving range of up to 531 kilometres as per the MIDC test cycle.
Its spacious dimensions continue to be a key selling point in the Indian market. Measuring 4,616mm in length with a 2,800mm wheelbase, the BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase firmly positions itself as one of the most spacious five-seater luxury electric SUVs available in the country, offering ample room for families and long journeys.
