In Pune, Vilas Avachat, the President of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), highlighted the increasingly vital role that architects play in the process of nation-building. He asserted that professionals in the fields of architecture and engineering are at the very heart of shaping modern infrastructure and driving urban development across the country.
31st AESA Awards and Key Announcements
Avachat served as the chief guest at the 31st annual AESA Awards, an event organized by the Architects, Engineers and Surveyors Association (AESA) in Pune. A significant highlight of the ceremony was the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between BNCA and AESA. This agreement establishes a postgraduate diploma program in 'Built Environment', with the signing carried out by Rajiv Raje and Anurag Kashyap, marking a collaborative step forward in professional education.

"With the infrastructure and construction sectors expanding at a rapid pace, architects are making substantial and meaningful contributions," Avachat stated. He emphasized that engineers and architects are working in tandem to give the nation a new and improved shape. He further noted that evolving technologies have simplified the execution of competitive and complex projects, urging professionals to actively adopt emerging tools such as artificial intelligence to stay ahead in the field.

Avachat reflected on AESA's 55-year history of uniting architects, engineers, and surveyors on a common platform. "When professionals collaborate effectively, there is no distinction between big and small projects," he remarked. Looking ahead, he expressed optimism about India's development trajectory, stating, "India is poised to witness large-scale development in the coming decades, and we have the unique opportunity to be active participants in that transformative journey."
