The Indian automotive sector is ringing in the new year with a major launch. Kia India is set to unveil the next-generation Seltos on January 2, 2026, marking the first car launch of the year. This second-generation model arrives with a comprehensive overhaul, boasting an all-new design, a revamped interior packed with technology, and it marks the debut of the new K3 platform for the brand in India.
A Bold New Design Language
The 2026 Kia Seltos presents a dramatically evolved exterior that takes inspiration from Kia's larger global SUV family. The front fascia is dominated by a bold, stepped-pattern grille with vertical gunmetal inserts. Flanking it are squared-off LED headlamps, with vertical DRLs featuring a distinctive lightning-bolt-shaped LED element at the edges. The bumper adds a rugged touch with contrasting black cladding and rectangular fog lamp housings.
In profile, the SUV sports a more pronounced shoulder line, chunkier wheel arches, and new 18-inch alloy wheels. Traditional door handles make way for flush-fitting units, enhancing aerodynamics. The signature C-pillar window kink now flows into a blacked-out element, creating a sleek wraparound effect for the glasshouse. At the rear, the cleaner tailgate houses an eye-catching inverted L-shaped LED taillight signature, with the number plate relocated to the bumper.
Tech-Laden Cabin and Feature Bounty
Step inside, and the cabin is transformed by a panoramic digital interface. This includes a dual 12.3-inch setup for the touchscreen and digital instrument cluster, complemented by a dedicated 5.0-inch display for climate controls. While physical buttons and rotary knobs remain for key functions, the steering wheel is new, featuring a three-spoke design with integrated controls.
The feature list is extensive, aiming to set a new benchmark in the segment. Key highlights include:
- Ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof
- Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and phone charging
- Powered driver's seat with memory function and rear sunshades
- 64-colour ambient lighting and an 8-speaker Bose audio system
- 360-degree camera and Over-The-Air (OTA) updates
- Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for enhanced safety
Safety is bolstered by six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), all-wheel disc brakes, hill-start assist, and a tyre-pressure monitoring system.
Familiar Powertrains, Enhanced Dimensions
Despite moving to the new K3 platform, the Seltos retains its proven engine options. The lineup includes a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol (115hp) with a 6-speed manual or CVT, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (160hp) paired with an IMT or 7-speed DCT, and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel (116hp) available with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic torque converter.
The new model has grown in all dimensions. It now measures 4,460mm in length, 1,830mm in width, and 1,635mm in height, with a wheelbase stretched to 2,690mm. This promises more cabin and boot space compared to its predecessor.
The variant strategy continues with Tech Line, GT Line, and X-Line trims. Bookings for the new Kia Seltos are already open across dealerships and online for a token amount of Rs 25,000. This launch is poised to intensify competition in the fiercely compact SUV segment and set the tone for Kia's 2026 strategy in India.
