Cumulatively, gross GST receipts for the period from April to January in the financial year 2025-26 amounted to Rs 18,43,423 crore. This marks an impressive 8.3 per cent growth compared to the Rs 17,01,891 crore collected during the same period in the previous financial year.
Domestic Collections and Import-Related GST Performance
Looking specifically at domestic collections, GST revenue generated from within the country rose to Rs 1,41,132 crore in January 2026. This represents a 4.8 per cent increase from the Rs 1,34,641 crore recorded in January 2025. For the April-January period of FY26, total domestic GST collections stood at Rs 13,49,795 crore, showing a 6.6 per cent growth compared to Rs 12,66,741 crore in the previous financial year.
Import-related GST continued its strong performance, with revenue increasing to Rs 52,253 crore in January 2026. This figure reflects a substantial 10.1 per cent growth from the Rs 47,453 crore collected in the same month last year. For the April-January FY26 period, GST on imports totaled Rs 4,93,628 crore, registering a notable 13.4 per cent rise compared to the previous year.
Refunds and Net GST Revenue Analysis
After factoring in refunds, total GST payouts in January 2026 were Rs 22,665 crore, which represents a 3.1 per cent decrease from the Rs 23,393 crore paid out in January 2025. So far in the current financial year, cumulative refunds have reached Rs 2,47,672 crore, showing an 18.9 per cent increase over last year.
Net GST revenue for January 2026, after accounting for refunds, stood at Rs 1,70,719 crore. This marks a 7.6 per cent increase over the Rs 1,58,701 crore collected in the same month in 2025.

- Central GST (CGST) collected: Rs 38,792 crore
- State GST (SGST) collected: Rs 47,817 crore
