The much-awaited Ganga Expressway, spanning 594 kilometers, is set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 29, 2026. This ambitious infrastructure project will drastically reduce travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj to just six hours, passing through 12 districts of Uttar Pradesh.

The Ganga Expressway is a greenfield project developed at a cost of over Rs 36,000 crore. It aims to boost economic development and connectivity in the region. The expressway will have six lanes, expandable to eight, and will feature state-of-the-art amenities including rest areas, petrol pumps, and emergency services.
Route and Connectivity
The expressway traverses through 12 districts: Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Etawah, Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj. It will connect major cities and towns, reducing travel time significantly compared to existing routes.
Toll Charges
Toll charges for the entire stretch are expected to be around Rs 1,500 for cars, Rs 2,500 for light commercial vehicles, and Rs 5,000 for heavy vehicles. Exact rates may vary based on vehicle type and distance traveled. The expressway will feature electronic toll collection for seamless passage.
Economic Impact
Officials believe the expressway will spur industrial growth, tourism, and agriculture in the region. It will also provide faster access to major cities like Delhi, Agra, and Kanpur. The project has created thousands of jobs during construction and will continue to generate employment in operations and maintenance.
Safety Features
The expressway will include advanced safety measures such as CCTV surveillance, speed cameras, and emergency call boxes. Patrol vehicles and ambulances will be stationed at regular intervals to ensure quick response in case of accidents.
