A tragic incident occurred at a stone quarry near Alangulam in Tenkasi district on Monday, claiming the life of a 23-year-old excavator operator. The victim, identified as Isakki Raja, a native of Keela Pappakudi, was operating an excavator used for crushing stones when a large rock suddenly slid down and fell on the machine. The impact crushed the excavator cabin, leaving the operator trapped inside. Despite immediate efforts by co-workers to rescue him, Isakki Raja succumbed to his injuries at the spot.
