Thiruvananthapuram Railway Sees 12% Rise in Passenger Earnings

The Thiruvananthapuram railway division has marked a year of significant financial and operational progress, as revealed during its 70th Railway Week celebrations. The division's Divisional Railway Manager, Divyakant Chandrakar, announced a robust 12% increase in passenger earnings alongside a 5.88% growth in parcel revenue for the year 2025.

Financial Growth and Operational Excellence

Addressing the gathering after honouring employees with awards, DRM Chandrakar highlighted that the division's punctuality performance was consistently maintained at an impressive rate of over 90%. He outlined measurable advancements across several key areas, including infrastructure development, operational efficiency, and administrative effectiveness. The past year's progress, according to Chandrakar, was evident in enhanced human resource management and a strong focus on employee welfare initiatives.

Transparent HR Management and Employee Motivation

Emphasising the critical role of personnel management, Chandrakar detailed the timely and transparent conduct of elections, suitability tests, and trade tests throughout 2025. This approach ensured effective manpower planning and deployment. A key highlight was that nearly 10% of the workforce benefited from timely promotions and the modified assured career progression scheme, which boosted staff morale and confidence in the system. To further cement transparency, all seniority lists were published on January 1.

Recognition of Meritorious Service

As a centrepiece of the 70th Railway Week festivities, the division conferred the prestigious Rail Seva Puraskar on 29 meritorious employees. This award recognised their individual excellence and collective dedication to duty, underscoring the division's commitment to acknowledging and rewarding outstanding performance. The event served as a platform to celebrate the combined efforts that drove the division's successful year, setting a positive tone for future endeavours in service and efficiency.
