Mysuru Railway Division Sets New Passenger Revenue Record in FY 2025-26

The South Western Railway's Mysuru division has achieved a historic milestone by recording its highest-ever passenger revenue of Rs 449.1 crore in the financial year 2025–26. This impressive figure surpasses the previous record of Rs 419.8 crore, marking a significant achievement for the division.

Strong Growth and Performance Highlights

Mudit Mittal, the divisional railway manager of the Mysuru division, announced these results while presenting the division's annual performance highlights. "We registered a growth of 1.4% last fiscal," Mittal stated, emphasizing the division's robust performance across multiple areas.

Operational Improvements and Modernization

To enhance efficiency, the division speeded up 71 trains, raising operating speeds to approximately 110 kmph on several routes. However, due to geographical constraints, this increase was not implemented in ghat sections. Additionally, about 44 trains were converted from diesel to electric traction, contributing to environmental sustainability.

In terms of security, efforts led to the recovery of passenger belongings worth Rs 1.1 crore and the rescue of 132 children, showcasing the division's commitment to passenger safety.

Passenger Traffic and Special Services

Passenger traffic reached 34.6 million, reflecting a 5% increase over the previous year. To accommodate this growth, the division operated 391 special trains, ensuring better connectivity and service for travelers.

Modernization and Future Plans

Mittal highlighted ongoing modernization efforts, including the upgrade of the Mysuru railway yard, which is expected to be completed within two years. Furthermore, a proposal is being prepared to maintain Vande Bharat Express trains at the Mysuru New Goods Terminal, aiming to enhance service quality and infrastructure.

Revenue Highlights and Financial Performance

The division's financial performance extended beyond passenger revenue, with notable achievements in other areas:

  • Non-ticket revenue showed an upward trend, while freight revenue crossed Rs 900 crore.
  • Ticket-checking revenue reached Rs 9.7 crore, the highest ever, exceeding past records and targets.
  • Non-fare revenue achieved all-time highs:
    1. Publicity: Rs 3.1 crore
    2. Parking: Rs 4 crore
    3. Catering: Rs 2.6 crore
  • Parcel revenue stood at Rs 11.8 crore, with SLR & VPH leasing contributing a record Rs 5.8 crore.
  • Freight operations generated over Rs 900 crore in revenue, the second-highest ever, with loading at 10.5 MT and iron ore at 8.6 MT.
  • Auto logistics involved 116 NMG rakes, generating revenue of Rs 23.9 crore.

These results, as reported by Mudit Mittal, DRM of the Mysuru division, underscore the division's comprehensive success in enhancing operational efficiency, safety, and financial performance during the fiscal year.
