BHEL Trichy Complex Welcomes New Executive Director K Ashok
In a significant leadership transition, K Ashok, aged 59, has officially taken over as the Executive Director (ED) of the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) Trichy complex. This appointment marks a new chapter for the industrial giant, with Ashok stepping into the role previously held by S Prabhakar, who has retired after a distinguished career.
A Veteran Leader with Deep-Rooted Expertise
Ashok brings an impressive 36 years of multifaceted experience within BHEL, having worked across various critical domains. His journey with the company began in 1990 as a graduate engineer trainee at the Industrial Systems Group (ISG) in Bengaluru, where he laid the foundation for a prolific career.
An alumnus of Kongu Engineering College in Perundurai, Ashok holds a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering. His technical acumen and leadership skills have been honed through decades of hands-on involvement in major projects.
Key Responsibilities and Past Roles
Prior to this promotion, Ashok served as the Executive Director of BHEL's Industrial Systems Group in Bengaluru, where he oversaw operations and strategic initiatives. His career highlights include pivotal contributions to the erection, commissioning, and technical services of significant power projects in Visakhapatnam, Rourkela, and Tuticorin.
Ashok has also held key leadership positions across BHEL's extensive ecosystem, including roles at the corporate office in Noida and the boiler auxiliaries plant in Ranipet. This diverse experience equips him well to lead the Trichy complex, which comprises several vital units:
- The high-pressure boiler plant
- The seamless steel tube plant
- The power plant piping unit at Thirumayam
- An industrial valves plant in Goindwal, Punjab
