Jamshedpur LPG Agency Faces 'Ghost Delivery' Complaints, Officials Investigate
Jamshedpur LPG Agency Investigated Over 'Ghost Deliveries'

Jamshedpur LPG Agency Under Scrutiny for Alleged 'Ghost Deliveries'

In Jamshedpur, numerous domestic customers have raised serious complaints against a local LPG agency, alleging 'ghost deliveries' where they receive SMS notifications confirming cylinder delivery without actually obtaining the cylinders. This issue has sparked concerns over potential digital manipulation of delivery statuses, leading to widespread frustration among residents.

Official Investigation Launched After Customer Outcry

Following a surge in complaints, the district supplies office took action on Monday, with officials visiting the agency located in Sidhgora. Over a two-day enquiry, District Supplies Officer Zulfikar Ansari addressed the matter on Tuesday. The agency operator explained that delivery slips are generated and handed to delivery personnel for transportation, with customers simultaneously receiving SMS updates. However, heavy backlog and increased demand have caused significant delays in actual cylinder deliveries.

Ansari stated, "The agency has assured to streamline the delivery shortly to address the grievances of customers." He emphasized that regular surveys will be conducted on the delivery agency to ensure compliance and improve service efficiency.

Customer Experiences and Protests Highlight Systemic Issues

One affected customer, Bhola Singh, shared his ordeal: on March 22, he booked a cylinder and received a delivery message the same day, but had not received the cylinder by March 30. This delay prompted customers to stage a demonstration at the Sidhgora police station, protesting against the agency operator's practices.

Ansari did not rule out the possibility of black-marketing of LPG cylinders under the guise of delivery workload. He announced plans for a random survey at booking offices and godowns of gas agencies to verify records of bookings and deliveries, aiming to curb any illicit activities.

Assurances and Future Measures to Combat Hoarding

Despite ongoing panic bookings in the city, Ansari reassured that the availability of LPG cylinder refills is adequate. He warned, "Strict action will be taken against any sort of black-marketing and hoarding." This statement underscores the commitment to maintaining supply integrity and protecting consumer interests.

The situation highlights broader challenges in LPG distribution, including digital system vulnerabilities and logistical bottlenecks. Authorities are now focused on implementing corrective measures to prevent future occurrences and restore trust among Jamshedpur's residents.
