BPCL Issues Firm Denial of Fuel Shortage Rumors, Calls for Calm
In a decisive move to quell rising public anxiety, state-owned fuel retailer Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has issued a comprehensive public clarification, firmly stating that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel anywhere in India. The company emphasized that the nation maintains robust fuel reserves and that all supply chains are operating without any disruption.
Official Statement Dispels Unfounded Claims
Through its official X account, BPCL directly addressed the circulating rumors, labeling them as "completely unfounded." The post read, "Rumors of petrol and diesel shortages are completely unfounded. India has ample fuel reserves and supply chains are running normally." BPCL further assured citizens that it is fully operational and committed to ensuring an uninterrupted supply of fuel across the country.
The company explicitly urged the public not to rely on hearsay or engage in crowding at fuel stations. "Please don't rely on rumours or crowd fuel stations and only rely on official sources for further information," the statement advised, highlighting the importance of trusting verified channels during times of uncertainty.
India's Position as a Net Exporter Reinforces Stability
Reinforcing its message, BPCL pointed out that India is a net exporter of both petrol and diesel, underscoring the nation's strong position in the global fuel market. The company confirmed that adequate stocks of crude oil, petrol, diesel, and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) are securely maintained. "Supply chains are operating smoothly without disruption," it added, aiming to instill confidence among consumers and businesses alike.
In a direct appeal to citizens, BPCL urged against panic or unnecessary buying, stressing that fuel availability remains stable and sufficient. This call for calm is particularly crucial to prevent artificial shortages that can arise from hoarding behavior.
LPG Supply Also Confirmed as Uninterrupted
Extending the reassurance beyond petrol and diesel, BPCL also addressed the supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). The company stated that LPG supply remains stable and well-managed nationwide, with systems firmly in place to ensure smooth delivery to every household. "There is no need to panic or rush bookings; BPCL and BharatGas are ensuring uninterrupted supply. Ample LPG is available, and every household will be served," the announcement concluded.
Context of Global Market Volatility
This public statement from BPCL comes at a time when global oil markets are experiencing continuous volatility, largely driven by the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Despite these international pressures, India's domestic fuel infrastructure appears resilient, with BPCL's clarification serving as a testament to the country's preparedness and strategic reserves management.
The company's proactive communication aims to prevent any market distortions and ensure that daily life and economic activities proceed without unnecessary hindrance due to baseless fears.
