Hazaribag: A woman sustained serious injuries in a chain snatching incident that occurred in the Barhi police station area on Friday morning. Two unidentified men on a motorcycle allegedly snatched a rolled gold chain from her, mistakenly believing it to be a genuine gold ornament, before fleeing the scene.

Incident Details

The victim has been identified as Urmila Devi, a resident of Barhi. Around 6:16 am, she had stepped out of her home to purchase milk when two unknown individuals riding a blue motorcycle approached her and attempted to snatch the chain. During the struggle, she fell onto the road, resulting in severe injuries.

Medical Response

Following the incident, Urmila Devi was promptly taken to the Barhi sub-divisional hospital for initial treatment. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later referred to Hazaribag for advanced medical care.

Police Investigation

Station House Officer Binod Kumar stated that the police are actively investigating the matter. Authorities are analyzing CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects and gather evidence. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge.
