UPPCL resolves 99.24% of consumer complaints in May

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has announced that it resolved 99.24% of consumer complaints received in May. According to official data, a total of 18.55 lakh complaints were registered across the state during the month, of which 18.41 lakh were addressed within the stipulated time frame.

Complaint Breakdown by Distribution Companies

Among the distribution companies, Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL) received 4.04 lakh complaints, Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (DVVNL) 3.59 lakh, Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (MVVNL) 6.33 lakh, Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PuVVNL) 3.38 lakh, and Kanpur Electricity Supply Company (KESCO) 1.20 lakh complaints. Nearly all complaints were resolved, with PVVNL, DVVNL, PuVVNL, and KESCO reporting a 100% disposal rate.

Nature of Complaints

Power supply disruptions accounted for the largest share of grievances. Consumers also raised issues related to bill payment, bill correction, smart meters, meter faults, service delivery, and complaints against employees. Officials stated that field teams acted promptly to address grievances.

Power Supply Complaints

MVVNL recorded the highest number of power supply-related complaints at over 4.8 lakh, while PVVNL, DVVNL, and PuVVNL received more than 2.97 lakh, 2.52 lakh, and 2.13 lakh such complaints, respectively. KESCO received 94,944 power supply complaints. Utilities reported that all these complaints were resolved.

Chairman's Directive

UPPCL chairman Ashish Kumar Goel has directed officials to ensure that complaints registered through the 1912 helpline are treated as resolved only after consumer satisfaction is confirmed.
